Church Extension Fund

The mission of the Church Extension Fund (CEF) is to support congregations in their task of the Great Commission.

The Church Extension Fund provides Central District congregational members the opportunity to help build churches, parsonages, schools, and other facilities.

How does it work?

A CEF loan (from an individual or a congregation) earns a fair rate of return. It is not a gift or donation to the church. Your money loaned to CEF, along with loans from many other individuals and churches, are pooled together to form the Church Extension Fund. Loans from the Fund assist congregations to build or remodel churches, schools, childcare centers, seminaries, colleges, and other centers where the gospel of Jesus Christ can be taught and preached. CEF is usually able to offer loans at interest rates below those of lending institutions.

History

Lutheran Church-Canada, Central District Church Extension Fund was incorporated in July, 2004. This new fund replaced the Church Extension Fund operated by the Lutheran Church-Canada, Central District since 1949 through its previous affiliation with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

The Church Extension Fund, predecessor of the Current (new) fund, had an accomplished history of assisting congregations and the District in their mission to spread the Gospel. The original purpose of the Church Extension Fund was to finance the acquisition of sites and the building of facilities which expand programs of ministry, witness, outreach, and service of Lutheran Church-Canada, Central District.

Investment in CEF

The Church Extension Fund offers 1,2,3,4, and 5 year Promissory Notes with a minimum amount of $100.
